David Oatley
Watercolour artist, born 1950 and educated Wells Cathedral School, developed
a love of painting and drawing. Worked in the construction industry for
forty years which prevented much art activity and inspiration, now retired
through ill health, he can spend and enjoy much of his time painting.
Watercolour as a medium is very popular but to some may be associated with
Victorian ladies who painted with light brushstrokes and pastel colours. I
create watercolour paintings which are very different, they have a freshness
and intensity which tend to be associated with oils or acrylic paints.
Producing paintings which are not only accurate to detail but also strong on
colour.
Based in the heart of the Cotswolds which provide his inspiration. I paint
local towns and village scenes as well as landscapes.
Having worked for many years in the building Industry I have an affinity
with architecture, taking special enjoyment from my work when painting town
and village scenes.
I am always available for commissions at very reasonable costs. Why not have
a portrait of your home, office, garden or any particular scene you choose.
Please look at all the pages on my web site, I hope that you enjoy my
